Auki Comes Alive with Football Again: Auki Capital League kickoffs this Coming Saturday.

Auki, Malaita – Football fever has returned to Auki as four teams competed in playoffs for a spot in the Auki Capital League 2025. The first play off kicked off yesterday at the Aligegeo Sports Ground, where Aoke FC faced off against GB United FC. Aoke FC emerged victorious with a narrow win of 1-0.
In today’s thrilling match, North West United FC battled Central Kakadi FC in a nail-biting encounter that ended in a 2-2 draw. The game then went to a penalty shootout, where North West United triumphed, scoring 3-1.
With these victories, both Auki FC and North West United FC have secured their places in the upcoming Auki Capital League, set to start this Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the Aligegeo playing ground.
Johnson Idui, secretary of the Malaita Football Association, confirmed in an interview with Malaita Issues that a total of six teams will compete in this season's Auki Capital League. The teams include:
1. Central United FC
2. Ward 4 FC
3. Midwest FC
4. Wales FC
5. Aone FC
6. North West United FC
Danny Belo, the Sports Youth Development Officer for Malaita Province, stated that preparations are well underway and teams are ready for competition. However, he noted a challenge for some clubs, as many teams are located far from Auki, with some as far away as Ward 6 in Mbaelea. Despite this, all club managements are adhering to the established rules.
A final technical meeting is scheduled for this Friday to finalize the fixtures before the league kicks off on Saturday.
