Basic Computer Training for Women in Maramasike Concludes

A week-long basic computer literacy training for 39 women from conservation tribes and communities in the Maramasike mangrove biodiversity area concluded earlier this month.
Grayham Tahu, highlighted the training, explaining that the program covered essential topics such as computer hardware and software, software applications, basic typing skills, email, and Facebook. The goal of the training was to enhance the women's skills and add value to their roles as chairpersons and committee members in their communities.
Most of the participants are from rural areas and have limited access to computers, especially laptops. Tahu said, the long-term plan is to continue providing training to ensure that these women fully understand computer skills. This will enable them to take on important roles within their conservation tribes and communities, such as secretaries and chairpersons.

Tahu acknowledged that achieving these goals can be challenging due to the social and family responsibilities that many women have. He emphasized the need for collective support from communities, individuals, and donors to help these women succeed.
The Apunapara Haamwaora Natural Resource Association (AHNRA) recognized its partnerships with the Solomon Islands Rangers Association and the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) for their support in facilitating the training and providing necessary funding.
