Over the weekend, the Malaita Diocesan Bishop, Rt Rev Michael Sau Bebeu, made his first visit to the Northern Region. The visit was held at Tabahao community in Lau Mbaelelea and was attended by parishioners from Lautolo Parish and its two sister parishes, Ngorofou and Ailali.

During the visit, 42 young members from the Anglican communities confirmed their baptismal faith and received the sacrament of confirmation.

In his welcome speech, Parish Priest Fr Victor Kona said it was a great joy and honour to welcome the Bishop and his team to Lautolo Parish.
"Your visit today is a milestone for us as you reach out to your flock as the shepherd of our church," Fr Kona said.

In his speech on Saturday, Bishop Bebeu thanked the people of Lautolo Parish, especially the Tabahao community, for their time and the beautiful cultural welcome they prepared. He spoke about the theme of his visit, "Knowing Jesus: The Path Through to New Life," encouraging everyone to grow in their faith.
Bishop Bebeu also shared his vision for the Diocese of Malaita, which is now the largest diocese in the Solomon Islands with 38 parishes, after the Southern Region formed its own diocese.

"My vision has three key areas, and with God’s grace and help, we will work together to achieve them for the good of our diocese," he said.

In his closing remarks, Diocesan Secretary Fr Stanbul Kuru announced that the Bishop’s next visit will be to Tabaa Parish next month.
