Construction Progressing on Mini Hydro Project in Malaita Province

Work is currently underway on the $2.5 million Ado Rural Farmers Association Mini Hydro Project in Falake village, located in the West Kwara’ae Constituency of Malaita Province.

This project is funded by the Japanese government through its Grassroots and Human Security Project in 2023. It aims to provide important energy development for the local community.

Pius Itea, the Chairman of the Ado Rural Farmers Association, posted updates on Facebook showing that both men and women from the community are actively participating in the construction.

Mr. Itea also thanked Mr. Peter Lynch from Pelena Energy, a company focused on sustainable and renewable energy, for their support and involvement in the hydro project.

The construction has now progressed to building the Turbine House.
