East Road Emergency Maintenance Nearing Completion

The second section of the East Road, stretching from Baratalo to Atori in Malaita Province, is progressing well and is now nearing completion. This project has been made possible through the support of the Government of National Unity and Transformation (GNUT).

Special thanks go to the Member of Parliament for East Kwara’ae, Hon. Manasseh Maelanga, and the Minister for National Planning and Development Coordination and MP for Fataleka, Hon. Rexon Annex Ramofafia, for their instrumental roles in facilitating the road works.

Malaita Issues understands that FT Construction was awarded the contract to upgrade the deteriorating East Road, with the section towards Atori now close to completion.

Meanwhile, construction is also underway on the Nafinua–Faumamanu Road, carried out by a local road contractor based along the East Road.
