Hon. Peter Kenelorea Jnr Tours East Are Are Constituency to Discuss Key Developments

Hon. Peter Kenelorea Jnr, the Member of Parliament for East Are Are, conducted a week-long tour of his constituency from the 24th to the 30th last month. During this visit, he and his office bearers met with local communities to discuss important topics affecting them and way forward.
The tour focused on several key areas, including the new Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Act and its implementation within the constituency. Hon. Kenelorea emphasized that this year, the constituency will receive $6.8 million for CDF, fully funded by the Solomon Islands Government (SIG), unlike previous years when funding was supported by Taiwan. He noted that the People's Republic of China (PRC) had previously funded Taiwan's contributions, but this support stopped in 2023.
Hon. Kenelorea also highlighted the establishment of the new Constituency Development Committee (CDC) under the CDF Act, which aims to prioritize income-generating projects. He assured residents that ongoing programs for sanitation, water, housing, school fees, and sea transport will continue to be supported.
The MP welcomed ideas and suggestions from community members for potential amendments to current laws, including the CDF Act, and expressed interest in developing new laws that empower the East Are Are communities and the people of the Solomon Islands as a whole.
The tour provided an opportunity for Hon. Kenelorea to connect with his constituents and gather valuable feedback on their needs and aspirations for the future.
