Central Kwara’ae Constituency Member of Parliament Hon. Ricky Fuoo, who is currently with the Parliamentary Independent Group and the current head of Foreign Relations Committee in Parliament has voiced concerns regarding the widely debated $15.2 million tax exemption, which has sparked widespread apprehension among citizens.
In a recent statement, Hon. Fuoo highlighted the pressing issues facing the nation, stating, “People of this country are literally dying in our hospitals because of the lack of beds and medicines. Our roads are at their worst state, some provincial capitals don’t even have wharfs or necessary infrastructures. Our schools are over crowded, our finance is at a dire state.

We have very limited borrowing capacity because we are closed to or even over the ceiling for borrowing (debt to GDP) and yet we are handing out exemptions for a privileged few.
I have nothing against exemptions but if we are going to give out exemptions we need to have performance indicators and constant monitoring to ensure that these exemptions serves their purpose in building our economy. What is really clear is that it’s the same few individuals that are abusing these processes . He stated
It’s sad that despite all the struggles we are going through as a country, some leaders still entertain these kind of behaviors and turning a blind eye to it.
