Hon. Ricky Fuo’o Takes Action: Afio/Fulisango Emergency Road Repair, Central Kwara’ae Constituency.

The Member of Parliament for Central Kwara’ae Constituency, Honorable Ricky Fuo’o, has funded the much-needed repairs for the Afio/Fulisango road. The state of the road had been inaccessible since early 2023, serves as a critical for the transport of local produce to Auki market.

The Afio Emergency Maintenance Project is implemented by Trades Transformation Company Ltd (TTC) a local road construction company which currently base in Auki.

The emergency repairs were undertaken after prolonged neglect had rendered the road impassable, disrupting the daily lives of people and causing a decline in the movement of goods and services. For many, especially the most vulnerable members of the community, this road is more than just a means of transportation—it is a lifeline. Farmers, traders, and families who depend on reliable infrastructure have been struggling to get their produce to market, cutting off a vital income source.

“Infrastructure is the backbone of any community,” Hon. Fuo’o said in a recent statement. “By fixing this road, we are not just providing transportation; we are creating opportunities for our people to thrive. This is one of the first of many projects, and we are just getting started.

In a call to action, Hon. Fuo’o urged landowners along the Afio Road to cooperate with the contractor by allowing access to gravel needed for the maintenance work. “Your support is vital for the smooth execution of this project until its successful completion,” he added.

I would like thank the Ministry of Rural Development (MRD), which allocated an initial tranche of $600,000 from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF). “I would like to extend my gratitude to the MRD for their support, with the which has enabled my office to fund the emergency road repairs,” said Hon. Fuo’o.

This road repair is just the beginning of a long journey toward a brighter future. As Hon. Fuo’o said, "We are just getting started."

Hon. Fuo’o and his office bearers are currently engaged in a two-week constituency tour in Auki, where they are meeting with local leaders to identify priority projects and gather essential data for the constituency’s four-year development plan.

On Friday, the MP will visit several identified communities, including Busufoosae, Arabala Aisalinga, Maoro, and Kunugwaugwau, to further engage with residents to update them and discuss their needs.
