Malaita Myzomela U14 Teams Hold Final Briefing For Players and Parents

Auki, Malaita — Friday, June 20, 2025
The Malaita Myzomela Under-14 boys and girls football teams held their final briefing this morning at the Malaita Youth Hub. The meeting brought together players, team officials, and parents ahead of the upcoming SIFF Umi Plei tournament, which kicks off next Monday in Honiara.
Team manager Ruth Asilaua explained that the purpose of the briefing was to inform parents about the tournament schedule and the time their children will be away from home. She also highlighted important issues such as safeguarding and the need for parental consent, especially since the players will be under the care of team officials while in Honiara.
Head coach of the Myzomela U14 girls team, Jerry Webo, said the girls are determined to defend their title and have been preparing well. The girls team currently holds the championship title.
David Fiumae, head coach of the boys team, shared that although the team faced challenges with sporting equipment, the boys are ready and confident to compete and defend their title.
Both teams are scheduled to travel to Honiara tomorrow morning aboard the Auki Express. They will settle in the capital and begin final preparations for the tournament.
The team is also calling on Malaita leaders and supporters living in Honiara to assist with bedding, food, and water during their stay in the city.
