𝘔𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘢 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘭 𝘌𝘹𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘥𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘮𝘦𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺.

Auki, Malaita Province – The Malaita Provincial Youth Council (MPYC), along with the Youth Hub team and the Provincial Youth Division, kicked off their Strategic Planning meeting today in Auki. 

Phillip Subu, President of the Malaita Youth Council, highlighted the importance of this meeting, stating that executive members have gathered to discuss key youth-related activities that will empower young people to become leaders in their communities. One major focus is the development of a new strategic plan for 2025-2030, alongside this year's action plan.

The meeting held purposely to identify the key priorities, opportunities, and challenges facing Malaita's youth in various sectors, including education, the economy, social issues, environmental concerns, and climate change. Additionally, participants will evaluate the current effectiveness of MPYC's programs and organizational structure, providing evidence-based recommendations for a comprehensive and actionable strategic plan.

This year’s agenda includes the implementation of the proposed Malaita Youth Hub, which is funded by the National Government of the Solomon Islands.

Subu also noted that 23 youth representatives from various groups are attending an Advocacy and Civic Education training in Auki, set to take place from Monday to Friday next week. The training will cover essential topics such as Youth Economic Empowerment, Climate Change, Gender Equality, Sustainable Community Projects, and Capacity Building.

Subu expressed his gratitude to the (DFAT) for supporting the training initiative for the youth in Malaita Province.
