The MalaiTolo Guardianship Trust has successfully concluded a two-day mentorship training program today in Auki, Malaita Province, aimed at strengthening digital learning and internet hub management across partner schools in the region.

A total of 11 mentors, comprising school principals and school internet managers, participated in the intensive training. The participants represented schools from across Malaita, including Rokera, Su'u, Gwaidingnale, Maoro, Auki High, Aligegeo, Kilusakwalo, Dala South, Faumamanu, Anon Atomea, and Adaua.

The training, which commenced on Thursday and ended today, was facilitated by MalaiTolo IT moderator Mr. David Subu. A key highlight of the program was the introduction and practical sessions on the Moodle learning platform, delivered via the MalaiTolo Moodle Cloud. This initiative forms part of the broader MalaiTolo Education Initiative (MITEI), which aims to enhance educational delivery in partner schools through digital tools and mentorship.

In addition to learning about Moodle, the training also focused on equipping mentors with the necessary skills to manage and sustain their school internet hubs—resources that the MalaiTolo Guardianship Trust also supports.

Speaking to Malaita Issues, Mr. Subu confirmed that all trained mentors are expected to roll out their mentorship programs beginning in June within their respective schools.

“This training is a key step in our long-term commitment to support digital education in Malaita. The mentors will now take the lead in ensuring their schools effectively utilize internet hubs and digital platforms to enhance learning,” Mr. Subu said.

The MalaiTolo Guardianship Trust continues to play a pivotal role in promoting digital literacy and connectivity for education in remote and rural schools in Malaita Province.
