MP Paea Discusses Development Needs for MOI with Prime Minister
This morning, Member of Parliament Paea and his team met with the Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands to talk about important development needs for the Ministry of Infrastructure (MOI).
During the meeting, they focused on three main topics:
- Marine Vessel: They discussed the need for a passenger and cargo ship to help with transport for MOI. This ship will ensure reliable travel, support disaster responses, and improve access to health and social services for the communities of Liuaniua, Pelau, and Sikaiana.
- Climate Financing: They explored ways to find funding to help MOI communities affected by climate change. This funding will support relocation efforts and build resilience against climate impacts.
- Revenue Sharing from the EEZ: They looked into options for MOI to receive a share of the money generated from activities within the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) under the Parties to the Nauru Agreement (PNA).
MP Paea expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for taking time to discuss these important issues. “This meeting is a big step in getting the support we need from the national government to help develop MOI,” he said.
