Ward 19 in East Areare, Malaita Province, is set to benefit from a water tank project funded by the Australian Government, facilitated by the Member of the Malaita Provincial Assembly, Hon. Barnabas Amalamu.

This initiative is part of the Solomon Islands-Australia Community Partnerships, a small grants program aimed at enhancing living standards through the development of community infrastructure and health services. The total estimated cost of the project is around SBD 300,000, bolstered by an additional contribution from the East Areare Constituency and the Ward 19 Development Committee, which brings the total investment to SBD 400,000.

Hon. Amalamu emphasized the project's extensive benefits, stating that it will support clinics, schools, and churches within Ward 19. "As a member of the Provincial Assembly of Ward 19 and  my Ward Development Committee, we are thrilled to witness how this funding will greatly benefit our local communities. The resources provided will support students and staff in our schools, enhance care for sick patients visiting clinics, and improve services for those admitted to various healthcare facilities in the area. Our churches will also gain vital support to assist their congregations," he said.

He expressed gratitude to the Australian Government and its High Commissioner in Honiara for their generous support. โ€œThis project is not just an investment in infrastructure; it is an investment in the well-being of every community member in Ward 19. Everyone will reap the rewards of this initiative, including visitors who come to our vibrant communities,โ€ he added.

Hon. Amalamu concluded by expressing pride in seeing the project come to fruition and excitement about the positive changes it will bring to schools, clinics, churches, and the wider community in Ward 19.
